IRIS....coming soon

Introducing ‘Iris’, Dance Jam’s latest creation.  Dance Jam (@_dance_jam_southsea_), was set up in October 2023 by my best friend Caroline Broadbent (@maud_dean),  and ‘Iris’ will be the eighth video to be created since this time.  Each dance piece has been filmed in a range of Portsmouth locations which have included shopping centres, cafes, bars, and Southsea Common.  ‘Iris’ was filmed in the Model Village, The Japanese Gardens and by the Rose Garden beach huts.  There is a core group of about 10 people in Dance Jam and with each new piece, Caroline uses a range of creative, collaborative and improvisational techniques to create a choreography that is then translated into the selected location.  Each time she finds a soundtrack she contacts the artist to see if they are happy for us to use their music and in all cases (bar one who never responded), all the musicians have been up for it, including Fat Boy Slim and Rusty Sherrif. 

Dance Jam has evolved into an eclectic community of people who all contribute a range of talents and creativity to each new dance film.  I love being a part of this as a dancer and as a film editor.
