Coming soon....Lido Lives
Lido Lives is a community dance film project inspired by the reopening of Hilsea Lido and Portsmouth's 100th birthday. 11 community groups have been filmed performing dance pieces created over a few weeks which will be integrated into a longer film that will be toured around Portsmouth museums and libraries as well as being shown on the big screen in Guildhall Square. My role is mainly as video editor and film maker (for the community groups) and I also perform on the filming day. This is a brilliant project to be part of and Caroline, who is bringing her bold, imaginative and community minded idea to light is a superstar. This has been funded by The Arts Council England and Portsmouth Creates with in kind support from Portsmouth City Council and the University of Portsmouth. Filming such a variety of groups giving their own takes on movement is mind blowing actually. I hope that people outside of our city will see this as well and be inspired by it. Not only for the way that so many people have got to be part of it but also to demonstrate that you do not need to have a million trillion or whatever budget to do something meaningful, cool and high quality.
